The Chapel of San Simón at Casa del Vino, Tenerife
The chapel of San Simón is a pretty, half-hidden hermitage built in the eighteenth century, with a perfectly preserved octagonal roof of painted wood in a Portuguese style with a touch of Mudejar influence.
Beneath this remarkable roof, there is currently a library with hundreds of books relating to Tenerife’s history, agriculture, wine, and rural life.
This chapel (added by the owners to bring it up to the standard of other great Tenerife estates) is obviously the part of the estate with the greatest artistic value: despite its small size, it features interesting construction features typical of the area’s architecture.
To discover this and other treasures, make use of our audioguide on your self-guided tour of this unique library so that you don’t miss a single detail.
And while we’re on the subject of culture, no visit to Casa del Vino is complete without a Tenerife wine tasting, accompanied by locally-produced specialities such as our cheeses, honeys, typical dishes and artisan jams.
It’s important to know that all the products offered in our tasting sessions are made using zero-kilometre ingredients — that’s why we have such an ample and natural mix-and-match larder.
